Donegal Boston vs Kerry Boston

Sunday, August 3rd 4pm

Donegal Boston 2-16 | Kerry Boston 1-9

Donegal Boston booked their place in the Northeast Senior Football final with a win over Kerry Boston.

Donegal got the scoreboard ticking early with a Ryan Magill point. Kerry attacked next and Luke Breathnach’s shot was well saved by Donegal keeper Hugh Boyle. Kerry centreback Ryan Donohue got Kerry off the mark with a well-taken point off his right, one point a piece.

Danny Magill edged Donegal ahead with a point off his left. Kerry then struck the first goal of the game. Rob Stack found Breathnach inside, and the corner-forward made no mistake with the finish. 1-1 to 0-2 in Kerry’s favour.

Donegal responded with a point from Oisín Conaty after Donegal overturned possession in midfield. Ciarán McDevitt levelled the game with a point, assisted by Morrissey. Shortly after, Morrissey fisted over a point to make it 0-5 to 1-1.

A black card to McDevitt temporarily reduced Donegal to 12 men, but it didn’t stop their momentum. Daire Cregg and Stephen O’Brien both pointed just before the break to give Donegal a two-point cushion at the interval.

Half-time: Donegal Boston 0-7 | Kerry Boston 1-2

Kerry came out firing in the second half. Rob Stack pointed, then followed it with a 2-pointer to level the game at 0-7 to 1-4.

Daire Cregg responded with a free for Donegal, but Stack struck again to tie the game once more.

Donegal then got their first goal when Oisín Conaty found Jordan Morrissey inside. Morrissey’s initial shot was saved, but he pounced on the rebound and tucked the ball away for a goal. Donegal now led 1-8 to 1-5.

Donegal then added four unanswered points, Conaty, Danny Magill (twice), and Cregg all raising white flags to push the lead to six.

Kerry were then awarded a penalty, but Stack’s effort was saved well by Hugh Boyle in the Donegal goal. Stack then added a 2-pointer soon after.

Darragh McMullan struck next for Donegal, a point and a 2-pointer. Stack then landed another 2-pointer, 1-15 to 1-9.

Donegal then got their second goal. McMullan burst through the middle, did a quick one two with Conor Cush, and tapped the ball into the back of the net. Jordan Morrissey added a final fisted point.
