Galway 1-13 | Aidan McAnespies 0-14
Galway opened the scoring through a Nathan Grainger free, but the Macs were quick to respond. After turning over a Galway attack, the ball made its way to Ronan Buckley who clipped over a 2-pointer to give his side the early advantage.
Galway struck back with Tom O’Flaherty fisting over after being picked out by Jack Lawlor. A free at the other end saw Conor Love convert for the Macs, putting them 0-3 to 0-2 ahead. Another Grainger free brought the sides level.
Galway pushed on with a point from Grainger after a solo burst, and O’Flaherty added another fisted effort following a turnover from Ciarán Potter. Macs responded through Robbie Croft, who slotted a 2-point free off the ground to level the scores once again. Shane McGinley followed up with a point to edge the Macs ahead heading into the break.

Grainger opened the second half with another free to level it at six points each. Galway pushed ahead through Lewis Ryan, who pointed off his left after a fast Galway burst through the Macs defence. Grainger followed with another from a tight angle, and Jack O’Neill landed a 2-pointer to make it a three-point game, Galway leading by 3.
The Macs responded with Buckley fisting over and Love pointing off his left. McGinley was next to score to reduce the gap to one. Pete O’Connell then brought the sides level with a well-taken point, and Love swung over another to put the Macs back in front.
Potter stepped up for Galway and slotted over to make it all square again. Love edged the Macs in front once more with a tidy score, but a Grainger free had the sides level at 0-12 apiece heading into the final minutes.
