Cush added a pointed free for Donegal and then Ronan Buckley answered for the Macs with a 2-pointer, making it 1-2 to 0-3.
Ciarán McDevitt clipped over a point for Donegal before Cush got a goal of his own when Cory Gallagher landed it into the square, followed by another McDevitt point, making it 2-4 to 0-3.
Owen Ward pointed for the Macs, but Donegal quickly responded. McMullan won a kickout and delivered to Danny Magill, who pointed from play.
Buckley converted a free for the Macs to make it 2-5 to 0-5. Donegal added two more points before the break, Daire Cregg from play and another Cush free.

Conor Burns pointed for the Macs before Cory Gallagher replied with a Donegal point. Buckley then struck again with a 2-pointer to narrow the gap to six, 2-8 to 0-8.
Cush added a pointed free for Donegal. McAnespies Bobby Walker came close to a goal only for his shot to drift wide. Shortly after, the referee awarded a penalty, and Love stepped up to bury it, cutting the deficit to four.
Donegal answered in emphatic fashion. Jordan Morrissey's initial shot was saved, but Cush was quickest to react and finished the rebound to the net for his second goal of the day.
The Macs pushed for another goal. Love’s effort rattled the crossbar, and Zac Firman pounced on the rebound, but Hugh Boyle produced a fine save to deny him.
Donegal extended their lead with a fisted point from Morrissey and another point from Cush who fisted it over from Daire Cregg's shot. Love responded with a well-taken point, but Donegal held firm. Conor Burns added a goal for the Macs to reduce the margin, 3-12 to 2-9.
Donegal were reduced to 12 men late on when Daire Cregg was shown a black card. Morrissey pointed again, Stephen O’Brien converted a free, and Cian Lynch fisted over to keep Donegal clear.
Conor Love had the final score of the game with a late goal for the Macs.
