Sunday’s Men’s Intermediate Football Championship action continued with a clash between Christopher’s Boston and Aidan McAnespies.
Christopher’s got off to a flying start, rattling the net early through Barra Ryan, who finished well. This was followed by a quick point for Christopher’s. The Macs responded through Eoin Gormley, who scored a 2-pointer from the sideline to get them on the board.
Sean-Patrick Faherty pointed next for Christopher’s, followed by scores from Barra Ryan and Liam Twohig, after Twohig took a quick solo and go from a free. Gormley replied with one from play to keep the Macs in touch, 1-4 to 0-3.
Both sides traded scores with Twohig and Faherty again on target for Christopher’s, while Toirealach Brolly and Cillian Murray hit back for the Macs. Christopher’s then pushed ahead with their second goal, Conor O’Sullivan finding the net which then followed by three more points, Twohig who was on target.
The third goal arrived soon after, and it was Twohig again, this time bursting through the defence and finding the back of the net. Christopher’s now led 3-8 to 1-4.
Niall Kilroy added a 2-pointer and a point to stretch the lead even further. Cillian Murray replied with two pointed frees for the Macs just before the break.

The Macs started strong in the second half. Dara Flanagan, Sean Guirke, and Murray pointed to close the gap. Christopher’s struck again, this time from the penalty spot, Conor O’Sullivan stepping up and blasting to the top left corner for their fourth goal.
Owen Ward pulled one back for the Macs, but Niall Kilroy made a strong run through the middle and pointed in reply. Murray added another from play, and Ryan Nugent along with Flanagan landed two more scores for the Macs to make it 4-13 to 1-13.
Christopher’s Twohig notched two more points and O’Sullivan added one, stretching the lead again. A late goal from Gearóid Stones and a point from Steven Ward finished the scoring of the day.
