Kerry v McAnespie's- Men's Intermediate Football

A lively showdown between Kerry and McAnespie’s intermediate teams took place last Saturday, July 1st.  The match kicked off with a yellow card for McAnespie’s number 3, Eoin Murdock. It was McAnespie’s number 6, Niall Murphy that secured the first point of the game. The teams went point for point for the majority of the first half. While it appeared that Kerry maintained possession for the longest, their scoring was low compared to that of the McAnespie’s. Kerry’s number 13, Sean Gildan, scored several points for their side keeping them on par with their competitors. Scoring was high too from McAnespie’s number 12, Jude Campbell, who bagged three points in the first half.

The first sign of a goal was from Kerry’s number 11, Noel Kennedy. Shortly after, McAnespie’s number 11, Padraic Dillon, matched his goal with one of their own, keeping the gap between the teams minimal. The first half finished with two points between them, and McAnespie’s in the lead.

McAnespie’s pulled further ahead as the second half got underway, with points from number 14, Pat Mc Kerney, 12, Jude Campbell, and 10, Eoin Gormley. After several points back and forth between both sides, a goal from Kerry’s number 14, saw Kerry pull ahead of their competitors for the first time since the early minutes of the first half.

Each point for Kerry seemed to be met with a corresponding one from McAnespie’s. This play continued for some time before a surprise goal from McAnespie’s Eoin Gormley (10) reintroduced their advantage. This put them just one point in the lead. A point from Kerry’s number 15, evened the score once again.

Determined to cling onto their advantage, McAnespie’s number 13 put the ball over the bar with minutes left. One final point in the game saw them finish with a two-point win, and a final score of McAnespie’s 2-13 to Kerry 2-11.
